Have you met your lawyer?

I am amazed at how many times I sit in the waiting room and see claimants meeting their lawyer for the first time. While it is possible that they had an extensive telephone conference, often they huddle in a corner having furious last minute conversations.

That may work really well for them, I have no idea. However, your Social Security case is probably the most important thing in your life. It is your means to income and insurance so that you can receive adequate medical care. Personally, I take that very seriously. You have entrusted me with the most important issue you are facing.

I think it is important for me to sit down with each claimant in two or three sessions before the hearing to go through the testimony. I want you to feel as comfortable as possible going into that hearing. You need to know me, how I ask questions, and work through what the answers are. We also have a video that takes you through the hearing process– what to expect, what to wear, etc.

If at any point you feel unprepared and that you need another appointment with me– we will schedule it immediately.
